
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region started the roll-out of primary care services in the community through the “Lab for All” and “PuroKalusugan” programs.
The First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led “Lab for All” program conducted on February 6, 2025 at the St. Vincent Park in Bayambang, Pangasinan delivered free medical, dental, and government services to thousands of residents.
DOH provided laboratory tests including ECG, ultrasound, blood chemistry, PHILPEN, ophthalmology test, dental services, and free medicines.
Meanwhile, various medical services, including laboratory services, medical consultation, vaccination, oral health, ECG, X-ray, ultrasound, and free medicines, were given to residents of Barangay Baraoas in San Fernando City, La Union where the first “PuroKalusugan” program was rolled-out on January 31, 2025.
The activity was led by the DOH- Regional Communicable Disease Program in collaboration with the provincial government of La Union and City Government of San Fernando.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that they will continue to support the conduct of the “Lab for All” program and assured that residents in remote communities of the region will be visited and given free healthc are services through the “PuroKalusugan” program.
“This year, mas maraming purok ang mabibisita at mabibigyan ng libreng primary care services upang masiguro na lahat ng nangangailangan ng tulong pangkalusugan ay hindi mapapabayaan.”
Sydiongco also assured that patients who will be diagnosed with serious health conditions and needing immediate medical care will be referred to the nearest government medical center in the region.
Purokalusugan is DOH newest primary care program which aims to bring healthcare services closer to communities by bringing them into every purok.
