THREE vacuum-sealed plastics each found to be containing a kilo of cocaine on Monday were found by fishermen in the seawaters between the municipalities of Abulug and Ballesteros in Cagayan province.

A report from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said fishermen immediately turned over the items to village officials in Bgy. Sanja led by Erwin Lobas.

The barangay officials brought the items to the Regional Highway Maritime Unit headquarters in Aparri for safekeeping.

PDEA chair Director General Wilkins Villanueva said a narcotics detection dog from the PDEA Regional Office 2 gave signals that the recovered items, wrapped with packaging tapes and black rubber, contained illegal drugs.

Villanueva said they sought the assistance of the Police Regional Office 2 in conducting a seaborne operation to recover similar contraband in the area.
