A HOUSE member on Thursday called for a massive information dissemination campaign up to the grassroots level to better educate the people about the benefits of the economic Charter change and effectively convince them into supporting it during the plebiscite.
In a press briefing, Deputy Majority Leader for Communications and ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo said providing more information to the public is necessary since the people will have the final say on the proposed economic Cha-cha at a plebiscite to be organized for the purpose.
He added that even if the House and the Senate are able to pass the economic Charter change resolution, the final say still rests on the people.
“Anuman ang gawin ng Kongreso, ipasa man iyan lightning quick — ganoon din sa Senado, maipasa man iyan, at the end of the day, tao pa rin naman ang magde-decide niyan eh. It will go to everybody — ikaw, ako, sila. The people will have the chance,” he said.
For his part, ANAKALUSUGAN Party-list Rep. Ray Reyes said House members as district representatives or party-list representatives of marginalized sectors are the ones on the ground promoting their advocacies for the welfare and benefit of the people.
He said the people’s perspective on economic Charter change has changed after realizing its necessity and relevance during these times.
