HINDI dadalo sa Senate hearing bukas ang mga opisyal at miyembro ng House of Representatives hinggil sa patuloy na people’s initiative na maglalatag ng isang amendment sa Konstitusyon, ayon kay House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe ngayong Lunes.
Ito ay bilang tugon sa pampublikong paanyaya ni Sen. Imee Marcos, ang chairperson ng Senate committee on electoral reforms.
“While we appreciate Senator Marcos’ open invitation to the Senate probe, it seems we in the House have our hands full crafting legislation aimed at enhancing the lives of our fellow Filipinos. It’s a demanding task, but someone’s got to do it,” ayon kay Dalipe.
“Perhaps while we focus on building bridges, others seem more inclined to hunt for witches. But rest assured, should our legislative schedule allow, we’d be more than willing to engage in fruitful discussions, preferably ones that construct, not deconstruct, our collective efforts for national progress,” dagdag niya.
Iniiwasan ng mga kongresista ang people’s initiative, na sinasabing wala silang kinalaman dito. Inaamin naman nila na karapatan ng mamamayan, na itinadhana sa Konstitusyon, ang direkta nilang pagmumungkahi ng mga pagbabago sa Charter.
