Speaker Martin G. Romualdez and Dr. Tulia Ackson of the United Republic of Tanzania, president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), exchange pleasantries at the opening session of the 149th IPU Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland Monday (Oct. 14, 2024). Speaker Romualdez heads the Philippine delegation to the gathering of the world’s parliamentarians with the theme: “Harnessing science, technology and innovation for a more peaceful and sustainable future.” Over 1,500 lawmakers from some 135 countries are expected to participate in the IPU’s biannual assembly from Oct. 13 to 17.
