
A MAGNITUDE 5.1 earthquake on Friday night shook Sarangani province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to Phivolcs, the tremor was recorded 49 kms. southwest of Kiamba municipality.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 24 km.
Intensity 5 was felt in Kiamba and Maitum, Sarangani while intensity 3 was recorded in General Santos City, Zamboanga City, Cotabato City, Maasim, Sarangani; and Norala, Tupi and Lake Sebu in South Cotabato.
Aftershocks are expected, according to Phivolcs.
