PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday highlighted the ripple effect on local businesses of the newly-opened PhP8.03 billion Panguil Bay Bridge Project.
The project will boost local economic activity in Northern Mindanao, the President said.

Speaking during the bridge’s inauguration, President Marcos cited the story of a local entrepreneur who expects her business to benefit from the structure’s opening.
“This inspiring woman, Ms. Erlinda Mojica, runs a small business, dedicated to providing fresh produce to her community,” the President said.
“Before, when the barge closed at night, there was no choice but to take the long route around the bay, wasting a great deal of time. Now, they can transport their goods whenever they need, no time lost, according to their own schedules.”
Mojica expressed her excitement knowing her products could immediately reach the market, avoiding prolonged delays, the President said.
The bridge, according to the President, is a gateway to a world “where distance no longer limits dreams, where aspirations can take flight, and where the ambitions of entrepreneurs fuel growth and prosperity.”
The 3.16-kilometer bridge connects Tubod, Lanao del Norte and Tangub, Misamis Occidental, and is now the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao.
With its launching, the previous more than two-hour travel was now reduced to just seven minutes. It is expected to benefit more than 10,000 travelers a day.
