The Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) started to celebrate its weeklong 55th Emerald Year Anniversary yesterday, February 20, 2023, by showcasing its twelve (12) specialty centers through an exhibit at the Robinsons Mall in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, and will be on display for one week.
The medical center now has treatment centers for heart, lung, kidney, cancer, neonatal, eye, geriatric, infectious disease and tropical medicine, reproductive, physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedic and office for strategic management that cascades the hospital’s strategy and aligns deliverables to every employee and shares best practices with other institutions locally, nationally and internationally.
Department of Health – Ilocos Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz, guest of honor during the opening ceremony, expressed his grateful appreciation for the accomplishments of MMMHMC.
“The highest attainable standard of health care depends on the availability, accessibility, acceptability and quality of health services. What you have achieved through the years – the establishments of your specialty centers, are the manifestations of the challenges you have successfully faced and your relentless commitment in achieving your mission and vision to make it a premier center for advanced health care.”
Albornoz also emphasized that as the new assistant regional director, he will be advocating for an open-door policy that encourages open communication, impact and discussion of institutional concerns among colleagues and partners in health. “Because we all work together with a common purpose – which is to provide a more responsive health service in the region that focuses on improving community health and well-being of our people, with emphasis on health education and disease prevention.”
MMMHMC was established in 1968 and evolved from an emergency hospital to a general hospital and finally, a medical center which is the biggest and premier health care institution north of Manila.
Medical Center Chief Maria Lourdes K. Otayza, who has been instrumental in the institution’s advancement, said that this year, they will be advocating for an eco-friendly initiative with the theme “Healers Go Green.”
“We will be promoting a model health institution that will advocate resource efficiency, increase resilience and reduce environmental impact to enhance the safety and health protection of health workers and patients which is also one of the objectives of Universal Health Care.”
MMMHMC is a DOH retained hospital and a level III tertiary, training & teaching medical center located at Brgy. 6, San Julian, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
