THE Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has deployed a relief caravan to deliver essential supplies to communities in Bulacan affected by recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon, or Habagat.
Dubbed “Hatid Tulong sa Sambayanan,” the relief caravan is part of the government’s continuing response operations for areas battered by Typhoons Luis, Maymay and Neneng, as well as Habagat.
According to the OCD, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) provided land transportation assets to deliver the relief supplies, while personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) helped load, organize and prepare the goods at the OCD warehouse in Camp Aguinaldo.
The OCD said each of the five affected Bulacan municipalities—Pulilan, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong and Bulakan—will receive 160 bags of rice, 450 bottles of drinking water and 112 hygiene kits.
Before the relief operation, the OCD also conducted an aerial assessment of affected areas in Bulacan on Monday to determine the extent of the damage and assess the condition of residents.
The agency said the relief effort will continue, with additional supplies set to be delivered to other provinces in Central Luzon, including Bataan, Nueva Ecija and Pampanga.
The OCD said the operation is part of its mandate and follows the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and the guidance of NDRRMC Chairperson and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. to ensure that disaster-hit communities receive the assistance they need.
The agency also thanked the AFP, PCG and other uniformed services for their continued support in delivering aid and carrying out disaster response operations.
The OCD vowed to continue working with other government agencies to provide assistance to communities affected by calamities.
