PCG receives PHP 10 Million election security ops from Comelec

PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu, has received Php 10 million for election security operations from Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Erwin Garcia at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, yesterday, 05 October 2023.

COMELEC Chairman Garcia said the fund was prescribed on the COMELEC Resolution No. 10919 promulgated on 03 May 2023, specifically on deputizing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and PCG to ensure free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible conduct of the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) 2023. 

For his part, CG Admiral Abu shared that the Php 10 million will be used to support the administrative, operational, and logistical requirements of its various units for the BSKE on 30 October 2023.

COMELEC Commissioner Rey Bulay; Deputy Commandant for Operations, CG Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr; Coast Guard Public Affairs Acting Commander, CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo; Chief of Coast Guard Staff, CG Commodore Joeven Fabul; and Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Logistics, CG Commodore Geoffrey Espaldon, were also present the ceremony.
