PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, has directed the Coast Guard District NCR – Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL) to support the Philippine National Police (PNP) in implementing security operations during the Black Nazarene Traslacion on 09 January 2024.
According to CG Admiral Gavan, the PCG will deploy Coast Guard K9 units to conduct paneling at the Quirino Grandstand, Jones Bridge, and within Quiapo Church.
Aside from augmenting crowd control operatives, PCG personnel will assist security forces in the vicinity waters off Pasig River and Manila Bay (behind Quirino Grandstand) through coastal patrols onboard Coast Guard floating assets.
Moreover, Coast Guard medical teams capable of conducting mass evacuation using Pasig River and Manila Bay will also be on standby for necessary assistance during the procession.
“The Philippine Coast Guard is one with the Philippine National Police and religious organizers for the successful, safe, and peaceful conduct of the Black Nazarene Traslacion, a time-honored Roman Catholic tradition,” CG Admiral Gavan expressed.
