AN election officer in Maguindanao was killed in an ambush in Sultan Kudarat last Monday.
Lambayong municipal police chief Capt. Jetro Doligas identified the victim as Haviv Macabangen Maindan, municipal election officer of Sultan sa Barongis in Maguindanao del Sur.
The ambush occurred in Bgy. Pingguiaman, Lambayong around 2 p.m. on Monday.
Maindan was driving his Toyota Fortuner when ambushed by riding-in-tandem armed men.
“He was going home on his silver gray Toyota Fortuner from his office in Sultan sa Barongis when fired upon,” Doligas said in a radio interview.
The election officer died on the spot.
Sultan sa Borongis Mayor Allandatu Angas said he was deeply saddened by the death of Maindan.
The mayor described the victim as a dedicated servant.
Doligas said they are investigating the incident.
