THE pre-voting enrolment period for internet voting for Filipino overseas voters started Thursday (March 20), following guidelines set by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
Registered Filipino overseas voters are required to complete the online pre-voting enrolment to verify their identity and gain access to the online voting system. The process is a one-time requirement for participation in the 2025 mid-term elections.
The test voting feature of the online platform is available until April 12, 2025. The official 30-day overseas online voting period is scheduled from April 13 to May 12, 2025.
Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino of #83 OFW Party List, a strong advocate of internet voting for overseas Filipinos, has continuously pushed for improved accessibility and security in the online voting process. She has emphasized that internet voting is a vital step in ensuring that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and seafarers can easily and safely participate in national elections.
“The internet voting is a big help to Our OFWs and seafarers as it addresses the challenges of the physical distance between the overseas voters’ workplaces or residences and the location of the Posts in their host countries, to the itinerant character of their employment as in the case of Filipino seafarers, and on other restrictive personal circumstances of the overseas voters while at work. I am encouraging all our overseas voters to pre-enroll for internet voting and make the most of this new technology presented to you to exercise your right to vote.”, said Rep. Magsino.
Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino is the principal author of House Bill 10178 or the Electronic Registration and Voting Act, which seeks to allow registration and voting via email, web-based portals, and/or other internet-based technologies.
