QUEZON City is turning to artificial intelligence (AI) and citizen-generated reports to strengthen its response to floods, typhoons, monsoon rains and other emergencies.
The city government has partnered with LyfSaver, a community-powered and AI-assisted disaster information platform, to link residents’ reports with existing response systems such as Helpline 122 and iReport.
The partnership was featured during the “QC, Laging Ready: Quezon City LyfSaver Roadshow” at Quezon City Hall, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte and LyfSaver convenors Dingdong Dantes of YesPinoy Foundation, Atom Araullo of Fyt Media and Voltaire Tupaz of Lyf Solutions.
Belmonte said disaster preparedness requires active participation from both government and residents, particularly in providing timely and reliable information during emergencies.
“Building a disaster-ready Quezon City is not the responsibility of government alone,” Belmonte said, urging residents to report incidents and know how to respond during emergencies.
LyfSaver uses a “crowdsource, verify, and mobilize” model that combines community reports, AI-assisted data processing and human verification before information is relayed to responders.
Tupaz stressed that while AI can help authorities process large amounts of information more quickly, human judgment remains essential in determining the reliability of reports.
The platform was previously tested during severe flooding in North Fairview in July 2025, when community reports helped responders locate and assist residents trapped by floodwaters.
During the roadshow, participants underwent exercises on reporting incidents, verifying information and linking validated reports to barangay and city response operations.
Dantes said LyfSaver could help channel Filipinos’ strong culture of volunteerism into organized disaster response by giving residents clearer ways to report incidents, share verified information and volunteer assistance.
The platform is designed to complement existing Quezon City disaster response mechanisms, including the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Helpline 122 and iReport.
The initiative aims to build a more resilient city by combining community intelligence, technology and government response to turn reliable information into faster action during emergencies.
