A QUACK doctor was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in an entrapment operation in San Pedro, Laguna.
Nabbed was Miriam Sol Magayanes, who was operating a clinic in San Pedro, Laguna.
She is facing charges for violation of Section 28 (illegal practice of medicine) of Republic Act 2382 or the Medical Act of 1959.
The NBI-Environmental Crime Division (NBI-EnCD) received an information that the accused was allegedly posing as a mental health professional without the necessary license and qualifications.
Magayanes was reported to have been conducting assessments, evaluations, and even prescribing medication to unsuspecting clients.
NBI agents immediately launched a surveillance and conducted a verification with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
According to the PRC, the name of the suspect did not appear in the database of licensed physicians in the Philippines.
The NBI immediately launched an entrapment that led to the suspect’s arrest.
