DISCREPANCIES in the testimonies of the controversial Pharmally scandal personality, Rose Lin, during the previous QuadCom hearing were lashed out, raising concerns over deliberate misinformation and its implications for public accountability.
Quezon City Fifth District Representative PM Vargas cited multiple contradictions in an apparent display of deliberate lying through Lin’s testimonies.
“Rose Lin has been lying not just to the House of Representative’s QuadComm but also the Senate in 2021 during the Blue Ribbon inquiry on Pharmally [scandal],”says the legislator while presenting evidence to the members of the QuadComm, including ownership of luxury vehicles that she claimed were just found in her garage.
Another direct lying under oath was when Lin mentioned that she met husband WeiXiong Lin, who fathers her child, in 2009. On a social media post, the daughter made her own birth certificate public showing she was born in 2004, as the second child.
In Lin’s testimony however, “Clearly, she would stick to meeting her husband in 2009, otherwise, she would be implicated in the Drug Cases linked to him in early 2000s,” hypothesizes Vargas.
The legislator also reminds the body that in the previous hearings, Lin also denied any criminal ties involving her husband. He later motioned for the Philippine Statistics Authority to provide a copy of all birth certificates of the children of Rose Nono Lin as well as for the Ombudsman to furnish the Quadcomm a copy of the cases related to WeiXiong Lin or Allan Lim.
“It is disheartening to know that among the highest personalities in the syndicate matrix is a Filipino,” Vargas laments. “We will not allow yet another Alice Guo to fester in our country,” he added.
Findings from the separate investigations conducted by the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) all highlight Rose Nono Lin’s involvement, as identified in their matrices, linking her to syndicate operations involving illegal drugs, POGOs, and Pharmally.
The QuadComm is the amalgamation of the House Committees of Human Rights, Dangerous Drugs, Public Accounts, and Public Order and Safety committed to the deeper investigation in aid of legislation of the intertwined issues of Extra-Judicial Killing (EJK), Drugs and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
QuadComm is deliberating to cite Rose Lin in contempt for her various attempts to cover the truth with regard to her involvements in POGO and illegal drug trade.
The Senate and Lower House, in unison, included Rose Lin in their respective POGO matrix that brought nothing but abuses and disrespect to our fellow Filipinos and the law.
