SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez led the House of Representatives Friday in celebrating President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s 67th birthday with “Handog ng Pangulo,” a nationwide distribution of financial aid aimed at uplifting Filipinos in need and reinforcing the administration’s commitment to “Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat.”
“President Bongbong Marcos’ deepest desire is to serve and help every Filipino, ensuring that government support reaches those who need it most,” Speaker Romualdez said.
“On his 67th birthday, the simultaneous distribution of assistance to 287,000 beneficiaries across the country once again proves that ‘Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat’ is not just a vision, but a reality,” the leader of the 300-plus-strong legislative chamber added.
House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias P. Gabonada Jr. reported that 287 districts and locations participated in the event, each distributing P5,000 in financial aid to 1,000 beneficiaries under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
This nationwide effort, Gabonada said, resulted in P1.5 billion in cash assistance, providing vital relief to the most vulnerable sectors of society.
Gabonada noted that preparations for the event began early Friday, with House members starting pre-program activities at 9 a.m., followed by the main program featuring President Marcos, which was broadcast live via Zoom to all participating districts at 10 a.m.
He emphasized that this seamless coordination ensured Filipinos from every corner of the country could witness and feel the impact of the nationwide initiative in celebration of the President’s birth anniversary.
Speaker Romualdez underscored the broader significance of the Handog ng Pangulo celebration, saying it not only marked the President’s birthday but also demonstrated the administration’s dedication to providing immediate relief and genuine service to those most in need.
He cited the importance of delivering assistance directly to the people and ensuring that every Filipino feels the tangible benefits of government programs.
“This event showcases the power of unity and reflects the government’s unwavering dedication to serving the Filipino people. Under President Marcos’ leadership, we will continue to work toward providing genuine support and services that benefit all Filipinos, ensuring no one is left behind,” Speaker Romualdez added.
