SIARGAO Island welcomes tourists and surfing spectators with a festive atmosphere at the famed Cloud 9, the area where the province owes its surfing legacy.
More than a hundred professional surfers from various parts of the globe including the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, Sweden, Spain, among others compete for the 27th Siargao International Surfing Cup QS3000, sanctioned by the World Surf League (WSL).
The final games are slated tomorrow, November 1.
Surfing champs and Siargao-natives John Mark “Marama” Tokong who is also Asia’s No. 4 in the surfing ladder, Philmar Alipayo, Susan Escanilla, and Noah Arkfeld are among the names who raised the Philippine flag in the international competition.
The competition is co-hosted by the Department of Tourism (DOT), where the agency also donated P1.5 million financial support for the event.
