THE Medical City South Luzon (TMCSL) launched its palliative care program last October 22, 2022 dubbed “A Life to Remember.”
The event was attended by hospital staff, community members, and families who have lost their loved ones.
TMCSL’s palliative care program is designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families during the end-of-life process.
The program offers a variety of services, including counseling, spiritual support, and health care services.
Hosted by Dr. Claudine Go-Soco Gonzales, TMCSL’s “A Life to Remember” was a moving event that brought together those who cope with loss and grief.
The event demonstrated the significance of different methods used in palliative care such as combining arts and music with gentle, compassionate support.
One of the guest speakers, Ms. Czarina Cruel, a music therapist, highlighted some simple and fun exercises that can be applied for emotional wellness and healing purposes.
The final part of the program was about honoring loved ones who have passed through “burning” messages and offering roses.
Dr. Erwin Francisco, a TMCSL Palliative Medicine consultant, shared insights on how to offer comfort to those who are grieving by speaking directly to their loved ones.
Francisco said while others may still be uncomfortable about a conversation about death, it’s crucial in palliative care that the patient and the caregiver don’t shy away from talking about death.
He said palliative care is about supporting patients so they can live well.
TMCL, with the best team led by Dr. Francisco, delivers quality palliative healthcare services.
