
DOH – Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco led the turnover of 18 BHS packages to recipients in the first district of La Union on March 6, 2025
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region continued the distribution of Barangay Health Stations (BHS) Packages to identified barangays to properly equipped the primary care facilities for the delivery of basic health services in the communities.
A total of one hundred and fifty (150) were given to selected barangays in the provinces of La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.
The regional office turned over eighteen (18) BHS equipment for the first district of La Union on March 6, 2025 and fourteen (14) for the second district of the La Union on March 2, 2025 while forty eight (48) BHS packages were given to the second district of Ilocos Sur on March 5, 2025 and seventy (70) sets to the second district of Ilocos Norte on March 10, 2025.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco reiterated recipient barangays to take good care of their equipment. “This package will complete and complement the health services that you will provide.”
“Mas maganda kung makapaglaan kayo ng separate fund for the repair and maintenance of these equipment to ensure that they are properly preserved para tumagal at may magamit pa ang mga susunod na barangay health workers natin dahil napakahirap at napakatagal ang proseso upang makabili ng mga kinakailangnang kagamitan sa ating mga health stations,” she emphasized.
“Kasama na dito ang pag-upgrade ng mga barangay health stations na unti-unti nating gagawin upang ang mga ito ay maging maayos at malinis para sa mga pasyente,” Sydiongco emphasized.
The medical equipment package was funded through the 2024 Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) the DOH – Health. Each BHS package is worth P500,000.
A BHS package is composed of a dressing cart, two minor surgical set, mechanical bed, two spine board, two EENT diagnostic set, weighing scale with BMI calculator, weighing scale for infant, eight fetal doppler and examining table, medicine cabinet, two instrument cabinet; five nursing kit (composed of digital BP apparatus with heavy duty stethoscope, non-contact thermometer with battery, nebulizer, blood glucose meter with strip and pulse oximeter); tabletop sterilizer, and generating set 10kva.
The BHS packages were made possible through the initiative of district representatives of each province.
