Batangas City – THE JCI Senate Philippines officially launched the Search for the Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) 2026 at Pontefino Hotel in Batangas City on April 18, 2026.
Established in 1988, the award was created to recognize Filipinos aged 41 and above whose achievements and integrity have significantly contributed to national development. The TOFIL Award is a respected platform across various sectors that highlights individuals who create lasting impact through leadership, guided by the theme of a legacy of service.
The award goes beyond recognition, as it seeks to institutionalize the values of integrity, excellence, and nation-building, while uplifting others and their communities toward success.
It serves as a reminder that greatness is measured not only by achievement, but by one’s impact on others.
“Today is not just a launch; today is a declaration that in a time when the world is searching for heroes, we are here to choose and recognize them. We choose Filipinos whose greatness is defined not by applause, but by impact. TOFIL is a platform of truth that reminds us that from the mountains of Luzon to the islands of Visayas and the heart of Mindanao, there are Filipinos who are quietly changing lives,” Sen. Go said.
This year, according to Senator Go, anyone can nominate—there is no need to be a JCI Senator or belong to an organization. If one sees greatness in an individual, they have the power to recognize it.
TOFIL screens nominees based on several criteria, including moral integrity, requiring an unblemished reputation for ethical conduct and honesty; professional mastery, demonstrating innovation and leadership in fields such as science, business, arts, or education; seniority and impact, recognizing leaders at the peak of their influence; and public service, where nominees must show verified contributions to community welfare and national development.
The search upholds its mission to recognize outstanding Filipinos and ensure their contributions are seen by a wider audience. JCI Senator Rommel S. Gerodias, TOFIL South Luzon Area Chairman, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond recognition, noting that it aims to ensure that those who truly deserve to be seen are given the visibility they merit.
