THE House Committee on Information and Communications Technology chaired by Rep. Tobias “Toby” Tiangco (Lone District, Navotas City) on Tuesday approved the creation of a technical working group (TWG) that will fine-tune House Bill No. 9704, seeking greater senior citizen inclusion through the integration of senior citizen identification card application and other services in the eGov PH Super App.
The panel named Oriental Mindoro Rep. Arnan Panaligan as head of the TWG.
Senior Citizens Partylist Rep. Rodolfo ‘Ompong’ Ordanes, author of HB 9704, said his proposal recognizes the importance of inclusivity in digital governance by ensuring that senior citizens, as valued members of society, are provided with the necessary tools and access to government services and discounts.
He said establishing a senior citizen ID application within the eGov PH Super App is a convenient and accessible way for the elderly to obtain senior citizen ID cards that grant them access to various government services and discounts, streamlining the ID card application process at the same time.
Senior citizens would also be able to navigate through available government offerings independently and confidently, he added.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) previously launched the app which serves as a single portal for multi-sectoral government transactions and services, making it easy for Filipinos worldwide to access government documents, permits, identifications, and clearances.
