A 12-YEAR-OLD boy yesterday died after he accidentally shot himself in their school in Bgy. Muzon, City of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan.
The victim was a Grade 6 student of Benito Nieto Elementary School in Bgy. Muzon, according to a report to . Bulacan police provincial director Col. Relly Arnedo.
The accidental shooting occurred around 5:40 a.m. yesterday inside the comfort room of the school.
An investigation showed the boy managed to bring the issued firearm of his father, a police officer assigned at Camp Crame, to his school.
While inside the comfort room, the victim apparently played with the gun that suddenly went off, hitting him in the chin.
Teachers, who heard the gunshot, went to the comfort room to check and found the bloodied student. They rushed the boy to a nearby hospital.
The victim was later transferred to Skyline Hospital for further medical intervention.
The boy was in a critical condition from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. yesterday when he was admitted to the hospital. Around 10 a.m., doctors declared that he was already in a stable condition until 12 noon.
After he was subjected to a CT scan, it was found out that there was still a shrapnel embedded in his brain.
The boy was declared dead at around 1 p.m. by his attending physician, Dr. Denato Tongol.
According to the victim’s parents, their son was fascinated with guns because of the influence of online gaming, particularly counter-strike and mobile legend.
