THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region IV-A joins the global observance of International Identity Day on September 16, 2026, highlighting the continued progress of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), with 14,120,560 Filipinos in the region registered with the National ID as of 31 August 2026. The figure represents an increase of 263,286 registrants, or 1.9 percent, from the 13,857,274 registered individuals recorded as of 31 January 2026, reflecting the sustained efforts of the PSA and its partners to make National ID registration accessible to communities across the region
International Identity Day underscores the fundamental importance of legal identity as a gateway to rights, services, and opportunities. In the Philippines, PhilSys provides a foundational and inclusive means of establishing identity, with the National ID available in physical, paper, and digital formats. As the National ID continues to reach more Filipinos, it also plays an increasingly important role in enabling secure and convenient identity verification for both government and private sector transactions.
In support of this, PSA Region IV-A continues to promote the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) among relying parties in the region. At present, the City Government of Tayabas is already integrated with and using NIDAS for its Tayabazen Digital Platform. Meanwhile, three LGUs—Batangas City, the City of Santo Tomas in Batangas, and the City of Antipolo—are currently in the process of integrating their systems with NIDAS. These continuing initiatives demonstrate the PSA’s commitment to maximizing the benefits of the National ID and advancing a more inclusive, secure, and digitally enabled identity ecosystem in CALABARZON.
