TWO young siblings and a child cousin on Thursday drowned in a river in Balatan, Camarines Sur.
The Balatan Municipal Police Station identified the victims as Gabriel Cardinio Andaya, 5; his sister Lian Rime, 3; and their cousin Lansen Andaya Ilanan, 4, all residents of Zone 4, Bgy. Luluasan, Balatan town.
The children, along with a 4-year-old girl relative, went to the spillway located less than a kilometer away from their houses to bathe at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Gabriel, Lian and Lansen were enjoying the water when they did not notice that they were already in the deeper part of the river and started to drown.
The 4-year-old girl relative who saw the three sinking and gasping for breath hurriedly returned home and informed Lansen’s father, Roberto, about the incident.
Roberto sought the help of the other villagers and rushed to the river and pulled Gabriel, Lian and Lansen from the water.
The victims were rushed to the hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
