THE Duterte Bloc Representatives Harold Duterte, Paolo Duterte, Omar Vincent Duterte, and Isidro Ungab file House Bill No. 7529 or an act for the benefit of Subsistence Fisherfolk.
The bill aims to give preferential rights to subsistence fisherfolk to fish in waters that are three (3) kilometers from the coastline or shore. The bill also provides that subsistence fisherfolk shall not be charged any fees for registration or for the registration of their equipment.
Puwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat (PPP) is a party-list group that advocates for fisherfolk and their families. In line with this advocacy, the Duterte Bloc lawmakers hope that this measure will address some of the day to day problems commonly encountered by subsistence fisherfolk.
“Nanghinaut kami nga makita sa akong kauban sa Kongreso kine na House Bill will have a positive impact on the lives of our subsistence Fishermen” Rep. Harold Duterte said.
