RESIDENTS of Magsingal and neighboring municipalities can now access faster and more reliable healthcare services following the inauguration of new facilities at the Ilocos Sur District Hospital – Magsingal on March 18, 2026.
Funded by the Department of Health (DOH) – Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP), with 10M in infrastructure and 24.7M allocated for equipment, the newly opened emergency room, outpatient department, laboratory unit, and ward building mark a major milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery in the province.
According to Dr. Rheuel C. Bobis, Medical Officer IV, who represented Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco during the inauguration ceremony, the upgraded facilities will provide timely, safe, and patient-centered care—enhancing emergency response, expanding outpatient services, improving diagnostic capabilities, and ensuring more comfortable hospital stays for patients.
“This development brings healthcare closer to the people who need it most,” said Dr. Rheuel Bobis. “With these new facilities, we are not only improving infrastructure—we are strengthening our commitment to deliver accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare for every Ilocano family especially in GIDAs.”
Dr. Bobis emphasized that the project directly addresses long-standing challenges in healthcare access, particularly for residents in distant communities.
“For many families, traveling far for medical care has been both costly and difficult. Now, with enhanced services available right here in Magsingal, patients can receive the care they need without delay. This is a significant step toward building healthier and more resilient communities,” he added.
The inauguration reflects the DOH Ilocos Region’s continued efforts to upgrade local health systems and ensure that essential services are within reach of every Filipino.
By bringing quality, compassionate healthcare closer to home, the initiative is expected to improve health outcomes and ease the burden on patients and their families.
