The Mabalacat mayor stressed the importance of addressing the issue of road accidents to ensure the safety of commuters and motorists.
“Matagal ng nag-request ang ating LGU ng mga foot bridges at pedestrian lanes mula sa DPWH, sana mabigyan kaagad ito ng pansin,” Garbo said.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was tasked to identify accident-prone areas so the DPWH can put traffic warning signage and adequate street lights along main thoroughfares.
Th move aims to improve the visibility of drivers and pedestrians, especially during nighttime or low light conditions.
“By providing clear and visible signage and lighting, the risk of road accidents can be reduced, and the safety of pedestrians and motorists can be improved.
“If matatagalan pa ang request natin sa ahensiya para sa pagpapalagay ng mga pedestrian lanes, kahit tayo na lang mismo ang gumawa kung papayagan tayo,” Garbo said.
The mayor also extended his condolences to the family of a pedestrian in Bgy Dau, who got involved in a recent road accident.
Garbo tasked the city administrator to provide necessary support to the victim’s family.
