A joint task force intercepted a shabu shipment (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated street value of P1.36 million at the DHL Warehouse.
The Bureau of Customs Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC NAIA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) also arrested the consignee during a controlled delivery operation on January 12 in Dasmarinas City, Cavite.
The parcel from South Africa declared as Deep Tissue Massager, arrived at the Port of NAIA on December 28, 2022.
Upon physical examination by Customs personnel, the parcel contained 200 grams of a concealed white crystalline substance.
PDEA laboratory testing confirmed that the substance is indeed shabu.
The PDEA is conducting a custodial investigation of the arrested claimant for an eventual inquest proceeding for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Anti-Illegal Drugs Act, and RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization Act (CMTA).
The BOC Port of NAIA, headed by District Collector Carmelita Talusan, remains committed to protecting the country against the entry of illegal goods.The Port will also intensify vigilance and dedication to prevent smuggling attempts in the borders aligned with the directives of Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz and the marching orders of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
