POLICEMEN in Central Luzon will provide free rides to commuters who will be affected by the jeepney strike starting today.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo yesterday said police patrol cars will be on standby and will be dispatched as needed to provide free rides.
According to Hidalgo, as of press time there are no reports that jeepney drivers in Central Luzon will join the “tigil pasada” today.
“All police units are ready to mobilize the patrol vehicles to augment the means of transportation to ferry commuters to their destination.We have our command center to monitor the status of traffic in areas affected by the strike, if any,” Hidalgo said.
The local government of Carmona in Cavite also said it will give free transportation to residents who will be affected by the transport strike.
Meanwhile, Cavite, Gov. Jonvic Remulla signed Executive Order 08, Series of 2023 directing both public and private schools in all levels in the province of Cavite to conduct asynchronous classes from March 6-12, 2023 due to the nationwide transportation strike.
The directive was posted on the social media account of the Provincial Information Office last Saturday.
