THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region will again bring the “PuroKalusugan” Program in San Emilio, Ilocos Sur on October 11, 2024 to provide primary care services to residents of various communities in the municipality.
Health Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa lauded DOH – Ilocos Region for its commitment in implementing the “PuroKalusugan” program. “Marami na tayong natulungan at marami pa tayong matutulungan sa patuloy na pagsasagawa ng programang ito sa bawat purok ng mga barangay.”
“Ito ang tugon ng DOH sa panawagan ni President Bong-Bong Marcos, Jr. na ibigay ang pangangailangang pangkalusugan ng bawat Plipino. And we will make sure that everyone will be provided with the healthcare they need at walang maiiwanan as we journey towards Bagong Pilipinas kung saan Bawat Buhay Mahalaga,” Herbosa emphasized.
The “PuroKalusugan” program is led by the DOH’s Centers for Health Development (CHDs) in partnership with the local government units delivering primary care services directly to residents of puroks nationwide.
It provides various primary health care services, including Maternal and Child Health; Immunization; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Nutrition; TB and HIV Control; and Non-Communicable Diseases Prevention and Control programs including medicines and assistive devices for seniors and persons with disability.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco also ensures that the “PuroKalusugan” Program will continue to visit other provinces to bring healthcare benefits to communities. “Patuloy po naming ibibigay ang mga serbisyong kinakailangan ng ating mga kababayan upang sila ay mabigyan ng proteksiyon at mapangalagaan.”
“We have already conducted a total of five “PuroKalusugan” activities in Dagupan City, Bayambang and Malasiqui in Pangasinan, Pugo in La Union, and in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. And we have served more than a thousand residents and provided medical referrals to patients needing higher care services,” Sydiongco disclosed.
She also reminded the public to practice healthy lifestyles such as eating right and being physically active, getting enough sleep, managing stress, keeping mind and body fit, connecting socially, and avoiding drugs and alcohol.
