Three generations of Manalo’s present at the 25th Anniversary Medical Mission last August 24, 2024.
IN a heartwarming demonstration of community solidarity and compassion, Dyaryo Veritas celebrated its 25th anniversary with a profoundly successful medical mission at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum on August 24, 2024024
The event, a significant milestone for the local newspaper, brought together a remarkable assembly of 210 patients, including 156 children and 54 adults, who journeyed from across Batangas Province to receive free,much-needed medical care.
The mission’s success was the result of a collaborative effort involving an impressive array of sponsors and partners, all united in their commitment to making a positive impact. Among the key supporters were CoinEx and CoinEx Charity, whose contributions were instrumental in making the event possible. PLDT also played a pivotal role, providing free internet access to all attendees, ensuring that families could stay connected throughout the day, and facilitating smooth communication among organizers and volunteers.
The event saw the active participation of various organizations, each contributing in their unique way. The Philippine Air Force, Pascual Laboratories, and the Batangas Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce also played key roles, alongside local media partners like 104.7 Brigada News FM, 99.1 Spirit FM, and 95.9 DWAL-FM Radyo Totoo, who helped spread the word, amplifying the event’s reach and significance within the community.
At the heart of the mission was the Jaden and Friends Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting families of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and Down syndrome. Their team of doctors and volunteers worked tirelessly, ensuring that each patient received personalized, comprehensive medical care. The Sinag Batangas Eagles Club and a team led by former Vice Mayor Dr. Jun Acosta Berberabe Jr. further bolstered the medical efforts, offering hands-on assistance throughout the day.
The Dyaryo Veritas team, led by its President, Ms. Melinda V. Manalo, exemplified dedication and community spirit. The entire Manalo family was deeply involved, from assisting doctors to distributing snacks and drinks, ensuring that every detail was attended to and that every patient felt valued and cared for. Their tireless efforts were complemented by the support of the Philippine Red Cross, St. Bridget College – High School Batch 1994, MLD Brokerage, and Wanamsa Bukid Restaurant, all of whom contributed vital resources, enhancing the overall quality of care.
As the day progressed, the atmosphere within the coliseum was one of unity and purpose. Patients and their families expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to receive medical attention, with many highlighting the event’s exceptional organization and the genuine compassion displayed by everyone involved. One parent, whose child was seen by the Jaden and Friends Foundation, remarked, “This event has given us hope. The care we received here is something we could never have afforded on our own.”
Another attendee, who traveled from a remote part of Batangas, shared, “We were not just treated medically; we were treated with dignity and kindness. It’s something we’ll never forget.”
The 25th anniversary of Dyaryo Veritas was more than just a celebration of the newspaper’s longevity; it was a powerful reminder of the impact that can be made when a community comes together with a shared purpose. The event’s success has reinforced Dyaryo Veritas’s legacy as a pillar of both reliable journalism and unwavering community support. As the patients left the coliseum, their smiles reflected not just relief but a deep sense of being cared for—a proof to the enduring commitment of Dyaryo Veritas and its partners to the people of Batangas.
