BAGONG Alyansang Makabayan and allied groups will hold a protest in front of the House of Representatives to condemn the proposed 2025 General Appropriations Act of the Marcos Jr government which features massive allocations for pork barrel programs and other items that can be used by politicians ahead of the midterm elections.
Bayan members call for realignment of funds to ensure cheaper price of foods and accessible social services instead of pork barrel items and agencies that are suppressing dissent like the NTF-ELCAC.
The protest is scheduled on the same day the Congress will deliberate the budget of the Office of the Vice President. Bayan also demands accountability from the OVP which was given 125 million pesos in confidential funds in December 2022.
