DIFFERENT government agencies have expressed their support for the Philippine National Police (PNP) as it serves the warrant of arrest on Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Officials emphasized that justice for abused children must be served.
In a statement, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Monday commended the PNP for rescuing the alleged human trafficking victims while serving an arrest warrant against the fugitive KJC leader in Davao City.
Remulla said the victims are now under the protection of the police after undergoing evaluation and assessment by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“l also call for a stronger collaboration between and among the DOJ through the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the PNP, and the DSWD to ensure airtight cases against the perpetrators with the end view to delivering justice to their victims,” Remulla said in the statement.
“Let us continue fighting this human trafficking menace which hounds society particularly the vulnerable sector,” he added.
In a separate statement, the DSWD said it cannot stay silent in the face of the serious charges against Quiboloy.
The DSWD noted that the allegations of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and abuse of minors strike at the very core of the agency’s mandate—protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has often expressed how deeply he is affected by the suffering of the innocent. He speaks for so many of us when he says that nothing is more painful than seeing a child in need, in pain, or left without hope. It is this same pain that drives our work at the DSWD,” the statement read.
“The DSWD stands with these victims. We are committed to ensuring that they receive the justice they deserve and that their voices are heard. We call on all leaders to stand with us in protecting the rights of every Filipino child and to support the judicial processes that are in place to bring perpetrators to justice.”
All leaders and citizens must support the legal processes that seek to protect the innocent and bring perpetrators to justice, the DSWD said.
The DSWD emphasized that it stands firmly with President Marcos in his commitment to creating a better future for every Filipino child, where no one is left behind or left to suffer alone.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. issued a separate statement, saying the police acted appropriately in serving the warrant of arrest on Quiboloy.
He also called on Quiboloy to turn himself in and face the sexual assault charges filed against him.
“Ilaban natin ang mga anak natin. Bilang ama, hindi dapat mangyari sa kung sino man na anak ito. …Hustisya lang po, dapat malaman natin ang totoo dito,” Abalos said.
“Tandaan natin na ang basehan ng demokrasya ay hustisya, at ang basehan ng hustisya ay ang batas. At iyan ang pinapatupad naming,” he said.
