
SOME 150 houses yesterday were gutted by a fire that hit a coastal barangay in Cavite City. It was the second time a fire hit the slum area in this city this month.
The fire, which reached third alarm, destroyed houses in the coastal area of Bgy. 10A Sta. Cruz.Cavity City Bureau of Fire ground commander Fire Chief Insp. Aymar Baybay said the fire started at 4:45 a.m. yesterday.The blaze immediately destroyed the houses made up of light materials.Firefighters responded and contained the blaze after around two hours.
No one was reported injured.City Social Welfare and Development officer Rowena Andrade said affected residents are temporarily seeking shelter at the Sta. Cruz Elementary School.Authorities are investigating what started the fire and the cost of damage.On February 12, a fire rendered some 700 families in barangays 24, 25, 26 and 27 homeless.
