MANILA, Philippines — LEADERS of the House of Representatives on Wednesday commended Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez for steering the chamber to become the highest-rated branch of government, according to recent independent surveys by Tangere and OCTA Research.
House Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega V of La Union said the survey results reflect Speaker Romualdez’s leadership in prioritizing responsive legislation and the welfare of Filipinos.
“Speaker Romualdez has redefined leadership in the House by putting people first. Under his stewardship, the House has become the engine for real reforms and responsive governance. The numbers affirm what we already know: the Filipino people trust and believe in his leadership,” Ortega said.
Tangere’s nationwide survey conducted from April 21 to 22 showed the House achieving a 55.5 percent satisfaction rating, the highest among the three branches of government.
The Executive Branch garnered 49.41 percent, the Senate recorded 44.74 percent amid internal controversies and leadership tensions, and the Judicial Branch, represented by the Supreme Court, posted 45.5 percent among aware respondents.
The latest OCTA Research “Tugon ng Masa” survey, conducted from April 2 to 5, similarly confirmed the House’s strong standing, with Speaker Romualdez posting a 54 percent trust rating and a 55 percent satisfaction rating.
The Speaker ranked among the country’s top national leaders alongside President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
Assistant Majority Leader and Zambales 1st District Rep. Jay Khonghun said the House’s strong performance is anchored on tangible results, particularly programs like the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), which have brought direct relief to millions of families.
“Speaker Romualdez has always made it clear that no Filipino should be left behind. His leadership turned that vision into reality through swift, responsive legislation,” Khonghun said.
He added: “The House is no longer just a legislative body; it is a lifeline for the people. That is why the public is responding with overwhelming trust and support.”
Assistant Majority Leader and Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said the House’s strong performance reflects a sense of unity under Speaker Romualdez’s leadership.
“The Speaker has built consensus across political parties, ensuring that the people’s needs are placed above politics. The trust and satisfaction ratings are a testament to leadership that fosters inclusivity, empowers communities, and remains focused on nation-building,” Adiong said.
The Tangere survey was conducted via mobile application among 2,400 respondents with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.96 percent. The OCTA survey involved 1,200 face-to-face interviews with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
Analysts attributed the House’s consistently high ratings to its aggressive legislative agenda focused on social protection, economic recovery and national security, along with Speaker Romualdez’s steady leadership in maintaining stability and public trust.
With broad and resilient support across regions and socioeconomic classes, Speaker Romualdez and the House continue to play a key role in advancing President Marcos’ Bagong Pilipinas agenda and building a more inclusive future for all Filipinos.
