Balete, Batangas —JAPAN Tobacco International (JTI) Philippines took part in a meaningful environmental initiative with a coastal clean-up activity held on June 19, 2025, along the shores of Poblacion, Balete. The effort was made possible through the collaboration of JTI’s Batangas Factory, the Local Government Unit of Balete, and media representatives from Batangas.
The event was part of JTI’s “ALL IN” Community Investment Program, which focuses on inclusive and sustainable action for people and the planet. In her welcome remarks, Ms. Faith Mondejar, Community Investments Manager at JTI Philippines, emphasized that the initiative reflects the company’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility. “ALL IN,” she explained, stands for all inclusive, all involved, and all invested for the future—a guiding principle for the company’s corporate social responsibility projects.
“This coastal clean-up may seem like a small task, but every action we take today is an investment in the future,” Mondejar added, highlighting the broader impact of consistent community-based environmental efforts.
Volunteers from various JTI departments joined hands with Balete police and coast guard personnel, to collect waste and debris from the shoreline—most notably plastics and other non-biodegradable materials that threaten marine ecosystems. The annual activity serves both as a direct intervention in environmental protection and as a reminder of the importance of community participation in sustainability efforts.
Local officials, including Balete Vice Mayor Alvin T. Payo and Municipal Tourism Officer Mary Ann Lantin, welcomed and supported the JTI team and other volunteers during the event.
Through programs like “ALL IN,” JTI Philippines continues to show that corporate responsibility goes beyond the workplace—reaching out to communities and ecosystems in need, with the goal of creating a cleaner, healthier future for all.
