LEYTE 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez welcomed the arrest of the primary suspect in the murder of Director Mauricio “Morie” Pulhin, Chief of the Technical Staff of the House Committee on Ways and Means, calling it a major step toward justice and accountability.
“This arrest marks a critical breakthrough in our collective pursuit of truth and justice,” Romualdez said in a statement Thursday.
“I commend the Quezon City Police District and all involved law enforcement agencies for their swift, coordinated, and professional action that led to this development.” Romualdez stated.
Pulhin, a longtime House official known for his quiet integrity and dedication to public service, was gunned down in a shocking crime that sparked outrage within the halls of Congress and beyond.
“Director Pulhin was a dedicated and principled public servant—a man of quiet strength, competence, and integrity,” Romualdez said. “His untimely death brought deep pain to his family, grief to our institution, and outrage to all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Romualdez emphasized that the House of Representatives remains committed to ensuring that justice is fully served, not just for Pulhin, but for all public servants who perform their duties with honor and integrity.
“To the Pulhin family: the House of Representatives stands with you,” he said. “We grieve with you, and we stand resolute in the fight to bring those responsible to full account under the law.”
The House leader also sent a strong warning to those who may seek to harm civil servants: “There is no room for fear or impunity in a society that upholds the dignity of honest public service. Those who commit acts of violence against public servants will face the full weight of justice.”
“Justice for Morie Pulhin is finally within reach,” Romualdez added. “The House will not rest until it is fully delivered. We will see this through—all the way to the end.”
