STUDENTS in Metro Manila on Saturday thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for initiating a government program that grants them a 50 percent discount on Beep cards for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 trains.
For Roberto Go, 18, a Grade 12 student of De La Salle University, the discount is a big help for his daily commute to school.
Araw-araw talaga kailangan bumiyahe bahay to school at balik.
For his part, Ian Pasinos, 20, from Las Piñas, an engineering student at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), also expressed gratitude to President Marcos.
Meanwhile, Dina Santos, 19, a student of Letran College, said the
discount card would greatly help her save money from her allowance.
Santos said the easier process in loading the card also helps them since they do not need to fall in line especially during rush hours.
Mas maraming estudyante na matutulungan,” she said.
President Marcos said that the government has expedited the processing of applications for the student Beep cards, also called “white” Beep cards.
The processing now only takes three minutes, when it used to take seven to ten days, the President said.
