
THERE were no survivors from the Cessna plane that crashed in Albay, Camalig Mayor Carlos “Caloy” Irwin Baldo Jr. yesterday confirmed.
Baldo said the bodies of the four passengers of Cessna 304 (Caravan) aircraft with registry number RP-C2080 were found near the wreakage.
“Wala na pong survivor. No more search and rescue operation. Our operation is now focused on retrieval because we’re able to locate the passengers,” Baldo said.
The mayor led the rescue mission, along with the Camalig Disaster Risk Office, and other authorities,.
The bodies of pilot Rufino James Crisostomo Jr., crew member Joel Martin, and passengers Australian nationals Simon Chipperfield and Karthi Santhanam were found near the crash site some 6,500 feet or more than 300 meters away from Mayon Volcano’s crater.
Chipperfield and Santhanam were consultants of Energy Development Corporation (EDC).
The plane went missing after taking off at the Bicol International Airport at 6:50 a.m. last February 18.
Investigation is ongoing on what caused the crash.
