THE National Bureau of Investigation – Fraud and Financial Crimes Division (FFCD), with an NBI-Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) representative, implemented multiple search warrants in five (5) stores in Manila and one (1) warehouse in Balagtas, Bulacan, for violation of Section 115 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Sec. 170 of Republic Act No. 8293, otherwise known as the “Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.”
The operation conducted on November 21 and 24, 2025, stemmed from the complaint filed by the representative of trademarks MONSTER and PUMA, regarding the proliferation and distribution of counterfeit/fake products bearing their respective trademarks. The service of the search warrants resulted in the seizure of Three Thousand Seventeen (3,017) pieces of assorted products bearing the “MONSTER” trademark and Seven Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty-Four (7,324) pieces bearing the “PUMA” trademark, with a total estimated value of Twenty-Eight Million Six Hundred Seventy-One Thousand Seven Hundred Pesos (Php 28,671,700.00).
NBI reminds the public to refrain from purchasing counterfeit products. Entities that produce these counterfeit goods are not concerned about the safety of their products for consumers and likely use substances or chemicals with the cheapest value, regardless of their potential risk to the human body. Also, patronizing counterfeit goods harms our country’s economic growth.
