SOME 306 wanted men were arrested while over 2,700 illegal guns, explosives and various live ammunition were seized by agents of the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group during the first 28-days of PNP chief Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr..
PNP-CIDG director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said they are continuously scoring a big number of accomplishments to contribute to the overall efforts of the PNP and the government’s peace and security program.
Caramat said they have conducted intelligence-driven operations which resulted in the arrest of wanted persons, including 122 from the regional level, 105 from the provincial level and 88 from the city and municipal level.
The arrested suspects were the subject of warrants of arrest for various criminal offenses specifically murder, homicide, robbery, rape and violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by different courts nationwide.
Caramat said that his men conducted 183 operations against loose firearms and private armed groups, which led in the arrest of 132 suspects, and the death of two armed lawbreakers during gunbattles with officers, and the recovery of 155 illegal firearms, 18 explosives and 2,484 assorted live ammunition.
Also jailed were 47 persons while
seized were nearly P9.8 million fake products.
The official also said that during the same period, they conducted 100 anti-illegal gambling operations, which netted 181 suspects and about P164,000 in cash bets.
