THE Police Regional Office 11 under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. led the closing ceremony of the 12-day reintegration seminar for former rebels in Davao region.
Dubbed “Counter Radicalization and Reintegration” seminar, the ceremony was attended by Maj. Gen. Filmore Escobal, deputy commander of Area Police Command-Eastern Mindanao, as guest of honor and speaker.
The seminar was participated by 38 former rebels, including a former leader of the New People’s Army identified as alias “Kumander Bagwis.”
“Kumander Bagwis” thanked the Philippine National Police, particularly the PRO11, saying he now had a birth certificate and was baptized at aged 38 through the PRO 11 Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay program.
The former rebel said he and the other rebels are given the chance to learn from the 12-day seminar, which he never experienced, during his involvement with the Communist Terror Group.
The reintegration seminar for former rebels is a PRO11’s initiative, through the R-PSB program, to contribute in the fulfillment of the National Peace Framework to end local communist armed conflict in the Philippines, in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Eexecutive Order 70 or the whole of the nation approach.
Silo vowed to continue the R-PSB program, noting it has brought positive police service impact to the community, as well as gaining support from the local chief executives.
The PRO 11 director promised to introduce more innovations for the development of peace and order to finally end insurgency and terrorism, not just in Davao region, but across the country.
