Batangas City — THE Social Security System (SSS) launched a simultaneous Luzon-wide campaign on May 16, 2025, as part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) initiative. The campaign aims to urge delinquent employers to settle unpaid contributions for their employees.
In Taysan, Batangas, eleven (11) establishments received notices of violation, including businesses such as a hose marketing firm, lomi house, household product trading, eateries, salons, a food stall, an industrial paint company, and a development corporation.
SSS officials emphasized that the RACE program is designed to ensure that employers meet their legal obligations to remit employee contributions. One local employer claimed difficulty registering employees due to high turnover, stating that many stay only one to two months. However, SSS representatives clarified that even short-term employees are entitled to social security benefits and must be reported accordingly.
SSS CEO II and Acting Assistant Head AMS Ghia Hidalgo Las stated that the program is part of SSS’ ongoing efforts to protect workers and guarantee their access to social security benefits in times of need. She also noted that SSS continues to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) to secure office space in municipal halls, making it easier for members to access services.
Employers who fail to comply may face legal consequences, including fines and imprisonment. The SSS also offers a condonation program, which allows employers to settle their obligations without incurring additional penalties or interest
