AN 18-YEAR-OLD boy and a woman attending a birthday party on Sunday drowned in a river in Bgy. Bucana Sasahan, Naic, Cavite.
Naic police chief Lt. Col. Marlo Solero identified the fatalities as Noel Barcial, 18, of Salcedo Dos, Noveleta, and Chelzky Regato, 31, of Bgy. 1, Amadeo, both in Cavite.
Zyrahlyn , also of Amadeo town, was rescued.
Staff Sgt. Rodrigo Veloso III of the Naic Municipal Police Station said the victims were among the family of Regato who decided to go on swimming to celebrate her uncle’s birthday.
Regato and Zyrahlyn were enjoying the water when they were carried away by the strong water current into the deep part of the river.
Barcial tried to rescue Regato and Zyrahlyn but he too was drowned.
Other family members in the area rescued Zyrahlyn.
Responding members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office brought the three to the San Lorenzo Hospital but Regato and Barcial were pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Beneath Sucano.
