A WOMAN and her 2-month old daughter on Monday night died in a fire that destroyed a commercial establishment in General Trias City, CaviteStaff Sgt. Ernesto Angue Jr. and Cpl. Jhocel Dayumat of the General Trias Police Office Station identified the victims as Rohayni Lumodag, 31, a native of Lanao del Sur, and a resident of Metropolis Subdivision, Manggahan, General Trias City, and her baby Raodina Adbullah.
The mother and her daughter were found embracing each other at their stall at the second floor of the dry goods market of the Genstar Plaza on Governor’s Drive in Bgy. Manggahan in General Trias City.
Police said the victims sustained severe burnt injuries and were suffocated to death. Cavite Bureau of Fire Protection Provincial Director Fire Superintendent Rene Bullos said the fire started at the Berlin Music Lounge and KTV of the Genstar Plaza at 6:56 p.m. on Monday.
The fire engulfed the commercial establishment and reached 4th alarm. It was declared under control at 8:11 p.m. “We are still investigating why the mother and her child were trapped in the said fire and are still trying to find out what caused the fire,” Bullos said.
