A MOTORCYCLE rider was crushed to death by a container van that detached from its flatbed in Batangas City.
Victim Franklin Masilungan, 44, of Bgy. Pook ni Banal, San Pascual, Batangas, succumbed to multiple head and body injuries.
An investigation showed Herwin Ador, 49, of Sitio Maipa, Bgy. San Miguel, Batangas City was maneuvering the 20-foot container van on Pastor Road, Bgy. Pallocan West, Batangas City when it hit a hanging telephone cable.
Witnesses said the container van detached from its flatbed and fell directly to Masilungan who was then resting on his motorcycle parked on the side of the road.
The container van was registered to Asian Marine Transport Corporation, with office address at Gonordo Ave, Cebu City.
Personnel of the City Emergency Response Team pulled the rider from under the container van and rushed him to Batangas Medical Center, where an attending physician declared Masilungan dead.
