THE Department of Health (DOH) continues its relief and recovery operations for families affected by Super Typhoon Uwan, with a fresh wave of essential health commodities distributed today to residents of Brgy. Sabangan in Binmaley, Pangasinan.
Leading the activity were Undersecretary Matthew G. Baggao and Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco, who both emphasized the Department’s commitment to ensuring that communities receive timely health support during disaster recovery.
“As the affected families rebuild, DOH remains steadfast in delivering health services and supplies that safeguard their well-being. Our goal is to help them recover not just physically, but holistically,” said Undersecretary Baggao.
During the distribution activity, 300 beneficiaries received jerry cans, health kits, and oral health kits, vital in preventing waterborne diseases and maintaining personal hygiene in post-disaster settings.
The Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) deployed medical teams to provide free medical check-ups and essential medicines, ensuring immediate care for residents with injuries, respiratory conditions, and other health concerns commonly seen after major storms.
Regional Director Sydiongco emphasized the importance of holistic recovery, stating that both physical and mental health are equally crucial in times of crisis. “Our teams are here to ensure that communities receive comprehensive health services as they work toward full recovery.”
The DOH Ilocos Region is set to carry out additional deployments of health commodities and services across other affected areas in the coming days.
The Department encourages residents to avail themselves of free medical consultations and mental health services as needed.
