Recipients of the fully automated hematology analyzer undergo a two-day technical training for properly managing and maintaining the equipment.
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region yesterday handed a total of 12 brand new fully automated hematology analyzers to various health facilities in the region to accurately count and identify blood specimens at high speed and aid in the diagnosis of anemia, infection, and hemophilia during a turnover ceremony held in San Juan, La Union.
“Our goal is to strengthen and improve laboratory services in public health facilities including rural health units, district hospitals, infirmaries, and the new Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) centers to provide accurate and reliable results that are essential for patient safety,” Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated.
“With these hematology analyzers installed in the communities, people will gain access to fast and accurate complete blood count, or CBC test which will provide real time diagnosis of a variety of conditions, including anemia, blood infection and blood cancer.”
Sydiongco also reminded recipients to conduct regular maintenance and check-up of their equipment to keep it in good condition and avoid technical problems that may arise.
Among the recipients were district hospitals of Dona Josefa Edralin Marcos Memorial Hospital and Vintar and San Nicolas RHU in Ilocos Norte; The Tubas BUCAS Center and San Juan RHU in La Union; the City Health Office of Dagupan; district hospitals of Magsingal, Salcedo, Sinait,Sta. Lucia and Gabriela Silang and Lidlidda Infirmary in Ilocos Sur.
The 12 hematology analyzers were funded from the General Appropriations Act of 2022 with a total cost of P3,876,000.
Representatives of recipient health facilities particularly medical technologists who will manage the equipment have undergone a two-day training on the proper operation and maintenance of the hematology analyzer.
The regional office has distributed a total of 28 brand new fully automated hematology analyzers.
