THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-CALABARZON, led by its Management Information System (MIS) Unit, will be conducting the first ever “Hack4AProgress: Creating Innovative Solutions to Address Local Government Challenges” on September 23-25, 2024, at the Sol Y Viento in Calamba, Laguna.
To support the national program of “ Smart and Sustainable Communities in the Country” this hackathon aims to generate smarter and more sustainable solutions based on local government challenges by producing minimum viable products (MVPs) that can be adopted by Local Government Units.
The Hack4AProgress is open to all CALABARZON students, professors, startups, and government employees and is part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTIW) celebration. Through the development of web-based or mobile platforms, interested participants are expected to propose and submit their MVPs that will undergo the selection process. On September 18, 2024, eight teams from various institutions in across the region were selected to compete in the 48- hour hackathon for the Finals Round.

● CodeKnights – Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba
● PNC-ACOES – Pamantasan ng Cabuyao
● Team 8 – National University (NU) – Laguna
● Dash2Attack – Cavite State University – Main Campus
● Algoholics – National University (NU) – Dasmariñas
The selected teams are set to pitch their products to a panel of judges on the last day. The top three teams will be selected as winners, receiving cash prizes for their innovative solutions. Additionally, the champion team's MVP will be considered for funding by DOST agencies or local governments.
